Objectives

The objective of the Weekend Islamic School is to provide the basic Islamic education to children. This education includes Qur’an learning in Arabic, surah memorization, Qur’anic translation, Islamic Faith, Fiqh, Ahadith, Seerah and Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW), and Islamic history.

Weekend School

The objective of the Weekend School is to provide Islamic education to our students. This education includes Qur’an learning in Arabic, Surah Memorization, Qur’anic translation, Islamic Creed, Fiqh, Ahadith, the Seerah of Prophet Mohammad (SAW) and Islamic History.

School Fee

The school fee is $300 per student per academic year plus $70 registration fee that covers books, school supplies and technology fees. If a parent has more than three (3) children registered, a maximum School Fee of $900 will be charged plus $70 registration fees for each registered child will be charged. Replacement copies of any lost books shall be paid for by Parents. All fees shall be paid prior to the commencement of the school year, and the Books and Supplies fee is payable at the time of registration. All fees paid are non-refundable.

School Fees Exception

$70/child Registration non-refundable fee will be charged to hold the seat for the child. The remaining school fees will be charged later (August 11, 2024). Failure to pay the full school fees by August will result in losing the registration money plus a guaranteed seat for the child in the weekend school.

Student Age Limits

A student being registered for the Weekend School must be aged five (5) already by September 1st of the year of admissions. The maximum age of a student is eighteen (18) years old.

School Administration


1. Weekend Islamic School Directors Appointed by the Board of Trustees.

2. Weekend Islamic School Office Administrators Appointed by the Board of Trustees.

3. Principal and Assistant Principal Saturday / Sunday School Sessions: Appointed by the Board of Trustees, recommendation by School Directors.

4. Teaching staff: Volunteer teachers are selected from the community for both school sessions by School Directors and Principals. Normally, parents are volunteer teachers.

5. Executive Council Members or designate(s) provide assistance as required for student registration, school fee collection and website assistance.

Weekend Islamic school Policies

  • The weekend Islamic school in overseen by the ISGVF board of Trustees.
  • All school staff members and officials are volunteers with the exception of the school office admin.
  • The Board of Trustees appoints the School Directors, Principals and vice principals. All appointments are for a one year term starting July 1.
  • The weekend school hours are, on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 AM to 2 PM.
    1. Students age limits for admission are five years minimum and eighteen years maximum on the September 1 of enrolling year.
    2. Classes for levels KG, level one, two, three and four (approximately ages 5 – 10) are held on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM.
    3. Classes for levels five, six, seven, eight and High School (HS) (approximately ages 11 – 18) are held on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:45 AM to 1:15 pM.
    4. Ages for the Elementary sessions are 5 to 10
    5. Ages for the Mid-High sessions are 11 to 18
  • No other meetings or programs are permitted on the premises during school hours.
  • The School Administration is not permitted to hold any program outside school curriculum during school hours.
  • The Weekend Islamic School is divided by academic and age levels.
  • The school fees, cost of books and supplies are requested to be paid in full at the time of registration.The Weekend Islamic School is overseen by the ISGVF Board of Trustees.
  • The school fees, cost of books and supplies are non refundable after completion of registration.
  • Parents are responsible for the school fee, cost of books and supplies for the entire academic year once their child is registered, even if the child drops out of the school, i.e., there is no partial year school fee or cost of books and supplies.
  • All visiting groups during school hours are required a prior approval, either from the President, respective School Director or from the respective School Principal.
  • Both school sessions hold combined annual graduation for all classes at the end of each academic year, preferably on Sunday. The School Directors, Principals and teachers plan graduation and coordinate with the help of the Executive Council members.

Responsibilities

The School Director
  1. Researches, selects and establishes School curricula with the Board Approval.
  2. Serves as a liaison between the school and the Board of Trustees.
  3. Creates academic calendar for the School Sessions.
  4. Standardizes student progress reports.
  5. Maintains accurate student registration information.
  6. Prepares and provides students registration information to respective school principals and teachers.
  7. Prevents curricula, policies or program changes during the academic year.

  2. Maintain discipline during school hours.
  3. Conduct and arrange school assembly.
  4. Evaluate and place students in appropriate grade level.
  5. Communicate information with all school staff members.
  6. Hold meeting with school staff (class teachers, assistant teachers and volunteers).
  7. Arrange volunteer substitute teachers as needed.
  8. Communicate School info and student progress with parents.
  9. Avoid changing curricula, policies or programs during the academic year.
  1. In the absence of the Principal, assumes the School Principal’s responsibilities.
  2. Assist the Principal in discharging the school responsibilities and organizing school events.

The Registrations for the academic year is normally opened for new children in July. Exact dates are published in the societies newsletter and on website.
The new academic year starts in September and ends in May of following year. The registration for new students opens in July,
The minimum age of the student is 5 years and the maximum is 18 on September 1 of the year of enrollment.
The Weekend School has two Saturday Sessions and two Sunday sessions. The first session is held from 8:30 to 10:30 AM for level KG to 4 and second session from 10:45 AM to 1:15 PM for level 5 to High School. The two sessions have been created to accommodate increasing children enrollment. Both sessions have identical curriculum but with different volunteer teachers.
The Weekend School hours are between 8:00 AM to 2 PM.
For the Islamic Studies classes the school follows the Weekend School Learning Series curriculum published by IQRA. Quran classes for the AM session follow the Arabic Writing for Beginners curriculum. Quran classes for the PM session have curriculum determined by the teacher to suit needs of their respective students. Additionally students are taught Fiqh, Islamic History and the translation of the Quran.
The AM Session has a student teacher ratio of 8:1 (classrooms with a teaching assistant, may accommodate two additional students). The PM Session has a student teacher ratio of 10:1.
New students eligible for a class which has already reached its maximum space allowance will be placed on a waiting list. If enrollment in the given level/class open up, we will fill the space in the order in which names were placed on the waiting list, Insha’Allah. The Weekend School Admin does try to accommodate parent’s preference of enrollment between the Saturday and Sunday sessions but does not guarantee it.
The School requires and expects full attendance. More than two consecutive unexcused absences may result in suspension from School for the remainder of the academic session. School Fees are nonrefundable including book supplies.
